RCPL's Reopening Plan
RCPL is committed to being a safe and healthy community space for our patrons and our staff alike. During this unprecedented time, we appreciate your patience and understanding. We will do all we can to serve your needs.
On May 4, 2020, RCPL began Phase 1 of reopening, which included reopening the book drop and resuming curbside service. On June 8, 2020, RCPL moved into Phase 2 of reopening, which included reopening our building with limited hours and public computer use. Phase 2 also includes continuing curbside service for those who prefer it, suspending meeting room reservations and in-person programs, and following state mandated guidelines, like requiring all visitors to wear a mask upon entry into the building.
RCPL is monitoring guidelines from the Governor’s Office, Kentucky Department of Libraries & Archives, and Lake Cumberland District Health Department and updates to public services and requirements will be made under their guidance.
There are no concrete dates for Phase 3 of reopening at this time, which will include resuming extended hours, in-person programs, and meeting room reservations.
Limited Hours and Services
Our open hours are:
Monday – Friday, 9 am to 4 pm
Saturday, 10 am to 12 pm
Curbside service is available during all open hours for those patrons who prefer it. Please call (270) 343-7323 when you arrive in our parking lot.
Public Computers, Printing, and Other Services
Our fleet of 12 public computers has been reduced to 6, all with appropriate social distance between them. Users are limited to 30 minutes per day, but may speak with staff about the possibility of time extensions. All computer stations will be sanitized after every use.
Copy, faxing, printing, laminating, and notary services are available. Costs of these services are listed on our Other Services page.
Our book drop is open and accepting returns 24/7. The book drop is located at the back of the parking lot. Additionally, during open hours patrons may bring returns into the building.
Our staff are taking necessary precautions for returned items, including sanitizing all items before they are shelved.
During Phase Two, all of RCPL’s programming will continue to take place virtually. You can find weekly programs, including Baby Storytime, Story Hour, and tween and teen programs, available on our Facebook page or YouTube channels. Visit our Summer at Home page for details about weekly craft kits, family fun subscription boxes, and virtual tween and teen meetups. Check back for updates on in-person programming once we enter Phase Three.
Meeting Spaces and Room Reservations
During Phase Two, RCPL will not be accepting room reservations. Additionally, closed rooms, including the the Community Room, Conference Room, Makery, and Children’s Activity Room, are not available to the public. However, users may gather in any of the open spaces throughout the building while practicing social distancing guidelines. Check back for updates on room reservation once we enter Phase Three.
