Temporary Facility Closure
With deep and thoughtful consideration and at the recommendation of health officials and leaders among us including the Kentucky Department of Libraries & Archives, the Russell County Public Library will close at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 and will remain closed until further notice.
RCPL is a place of community and it is staffed with some of Russell County’s most creative and dedicated people. Because of that, we’re bringing you this message today with hope and joy. Our service to you isn’t stopping – it’s just changing a little bit. We plan to bring you and your family virtual programming twice daily at 10 am and 2 pm on Facebook live. This includes story time, STEM activities, book talks on literature that is freely available, and more. We’re excited to share details in the days ahead about increased checkouts on Libby, our e-book lending platform, where you and your family have access to thousands of good books on your devices from the comfort of your home. All items currently checked out will be administratively renewed and no overdue fines will be charged during this time. In fact, please keep your materials with you instead of returning them right now, and instead bring them back when we reopen. And, starting Wednesday, March 18, we will begin offering curbside service for those who would like to reserve specific titles online or over the phone. Call us anytime, Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 4 pm to make a reservation – pickups will be available between 10 am and 3 pm where we’ll bring your materials to your car with a smile.
As a member of the Russell County family and as a place that is of great importance to you, the people we serve, we know that responding to this situation with careful thought and kindness is the only way forward. Stay healthy, Russell County!
