• Quote-startA public library is the most enduring of memorials, the trustiest monument for the preservation of an event or a name or an affection; for it, and it only, is respected by wars and revolutions, and survives them.Quote-end

Christina Myers

Library Manager

Christina began working as a circulation assistant for the Russell County Public Library in September 2013, and she says it's "easily the most wonderful position I have ever held." Christina earned a bachelor's degree in English from Lindsey Wilson College and is pursuing her Masters in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. But this isn't her first experience in a library setting — she volunteered in her high school library in North Carolina and also worked in a writing center assisting students in their academic performance. Christina loves to read and write, and is passionate about animals. She enjoys knitting and cooking, creating new dishes and attempting to replicate the ones she sees in cookbooks.

Christina is a lifetime member of Sigma Tau Delta, a national English society, as well as the American Library Association and the Kentucky Librarian Association. She has hosted several poetry slams involving the community and the student body. She was awarded the Editor's Choice Award in 2008 and again in 2009 for poetry.

While she was born in southern Florida, Christina spent most of her years growing up in western North Carolina. She moved to Columbia at age 19 to live with her grandfather, and since then she has "gone to college, met the most wonderful man on this planet, and started a beautiful family."
